About MIOS
MIOS (Made In Our Studio) is a New York–based sculptural lighting and object studio working in ceramic. Founded by Ukrainian artist Renata G. and a team of longtime collaborators, MIOS explores the relationship between material, process, and form through a language of quiet precision and expressive structure.
With a background in painting and sculpture, Renata approaches each work as both artist and maker. Her practice is grounded in material exploration and guided by a balance of tradition and experimentation. Every piece is designed and produced entirely in-house using digital modeling, ceramic 3D printing, hand-finishing, and kiln firing. Throughout the build, the artist refines contours and surfaces by hand as they emerge, transforming digital precision into a tactile, responsive act of making.
Working primarily in stoneware and porcelain, MIOS develops surfaces that evoke woven textiles and coiled fibers—forms that appear soft yet reveal the strength and permanence of clay. This process reflects the studio’s material-forward philosophy and its interest in digital fabrication as a form of slow, intentional making.
The studio’s aesthetic, known as New Mid Century, continues the reinvention-driven spirit of 20th-century design through a contemporary lens of sculptural clarity, subtle texture, and process-led form. The resulting works—ranging from lighting to sculptural objects—are created to live comfortably across residential interiors, galleries, and commercial spaces.
MIOS creates work with presence and permanence: sculptural forms that invite both interaction and reflection. Each piece is a meditation on materiality, rhythm, and the quiet impact of design that endures.
